Melia Scranton – Fine Arts Teacher

I came to Lafayette in 1993, after a two-year multi-cultural arts teaching grant at another Seattle Public school.

I grew up in Hawaii and that experience enriches my teaching everyday.

I received my degree from Seattle Pacific University and, after ten years at home with my four children, went back to school and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1990 from the University of Southern California.

All this prepared me to teach the students at Lafayette in the Arts: vocal music, drama, and dance. I love my job. Lafayette is a great school with great kids and a very good teaching staff.
