Judy-Gene McCoy – resource room teacher
I think I always knew I wanted to teach even when I was a little girl. Later, my third grade teacher cemented that concept. Mrs. McClure was my mentor. I graduated from Washington State University with degrees in education and speech therapy. Later, I went to Portland State University for my Masters degree in Special Education. This time my motivation was my second son, who was a text book example of a student with a specific learning disability. I have been teaching special education for many years. When we relocated to the Seattle area, I was so fort urinate to land at Lafayette. It has been a privilege to work at this building and teach beside professional and talented teachers. I like teaching in the resource room best because I like giving learning support in small groups and the challenge of making remediation pleasurable and stimulating. I want to create a safe and comfortable learning environment. When I’m not teaching, I like to travel, garden, and correspond with friends and family in faraway places…with strange sounding names. I can be reached at Lafayette: 252 9500 or jgmccoy@ seattleschools.org. I do encourage frequent communication with the parents of students in my room.
